Marvel’s Avengers Reveals New Wakanda Enemy Faction, Klaue Company

The upcoming Marvel’s Avengers expansion, Black Panther – War for Wakanda, will introduce a new enemy faction called the Klaue Company.

Developer Crystal Dynamics has revealed a new enemy faction coming to Marvel’s Avengers. While the superhero slugfest was met with negative reception upon release, Crystal Dynamics continues to support the game with free updates and events. The game’s next piece of content, an expansion called Black Panther – War for Wakanda, promises to be Marvel’s Avengers‘ biggest piece of post-launch support yet.

Crystal Dynamics has announced that War for Wakanda will release on August 17. The expansion will place emphasis on the beloved superhero Black Panther and his iconic home nation of Wakanda. Black Panther will be added to the ever-expanding Marvel’s Avengers roster, acting as the game’s ninth hero. Wakanda itself will feature as a new playable region, allowing players to explore the futuristic African nation’s jungles and ruins. A brand-new storyline will introduce players to a number of new characters such as King T’Challa, his sister Shuri and the warrior Okoye. The titular War for Wakanda will kick off when Ulysses Klaue, a long-running foe of Black Panther from the pages of Marvel Comics, invades the nation with his own army. Several animated shorts have been released which introduce players to Marvel’s Avengers‘ versions of Black Panther and Wakanda.

Developer Crystal Dynamics recently released a blog post which details a new enemy faction being introduced to Marvel’s Avengers in War for Wakanda. Named the Klaue Company, this mercenary faction will include foes with unique combat mechanics compared to the game’s current collection of robotic foes. The Bruiser is a massive mercenary who wields an axe and is powered by the expansion’s new Corrupted Vibranium element. The element gives the Bruiser power every time he lands a hit on one of the Avengers, and a full charge activates a powerful Overcharged buff. Meanwhile, the Strategist is a support unit which can buff other Klaue Company soldiers and debuff the player. Drones are also used to attack players, and if the drones are destroyed the Strategist can deploy a defensive Sonic Aura.

Marvel’s Avengers: Black Panther – War for Wakanda promises to add a ton of new content to the largely-dismissed action title. A new region, new enemy faction and new playable Avenger should give players plenty of incentive to revisit the title. The game’s last update added a new piece of endgame content titled Omega Level Threat: Family Reunion. The level is a new version of one introduced in the game’s second Operation, but the difficulty has been increased to challenge even the most skilled players. The mission culminates in a climactic fight with a classic comic villain, the Super-Adaptoid, which is able to defeat even a high-level and well-equipped team.

Crystal Dynamics seems to be putting a huge amount of focus on Black Panther – War for Wakanda. The expansion features a wide range of new content, and the upcoming story has been particularly emphasized by the developer. Marvel’s Avengers has struggled to recover after its underwhelming launch, so a big successful expansion may be the title’s only hope for a recovery. The Klaue Company looks to add unique combat mechanics to the game, ensuring that War for Wakanda will not be filled with another army of generic robots.
