Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn: Expect ‘the best fighting the best more often’ because of new DAZN deal

For a British-based multinational company owned by Britain’s richest man, DAZN has not packed a particularly potent punch in Britain since its launch in 2016.

If anything, it was better known for not doing things – not bidding for UK rights to the Premier League, not floating on the stock market, not making money – than its achievements. Well, that and having a name which still causes some confusion.

Last week, however, the sports streaming service landed its first significant blow in the UK, signing a five-year deal with Matchroom, the boxing promotion business that had previously been linked to British pay-TV giant Sky Sports.
