MLB All-Star Game gets a modest TV viewership boost on Fox despite political shadow

Major League Baseball and Fox Sports got an average of 8.24 million domestic viewers for Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Coors Field in Denver.

That’s up from the 8.14 million averaged in 2019, the last time it was played. Three years ago, it averaged 8.69 million viewers. The 2020 game was cancelled because of the pandemic.

So, this year’s U.S. audience was basically flat — and that’s not a bad thing these days.

With Spanish-language Fox Deportes included in the audience total, the game averaged 8.31 million U.S. viewers who saw Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launch a 468-foot home run that helped the American League to a 5-2 victory.

Fox said Wednesday evening that the game’s average minute audience for streaming was 106,053.
