Stylish battle royale game Naraka: Bladepoint is officially coming to PS5 and other consoles, though which ones will join it have yet to be named.
The once-presumed PC exclusive Naraka: Bladepoint is making its way to consoles, and a new gameplay trailer shows how it runs on PlayStation 5. The flashy 60-player battle royale appears to take some visual cues from international martial arts films like House of Flying Daggers, and it was most recently shown off by publisher NetEase at E3 2021 alongside LOTR: Rise to War and Racing Master.
Naraka: Bladepoint will also be launching on PS5 and other consoles, revealed by an IGN trailer as part of its ongoing Summer of Gaming 2021. NetEase says PS5 won’t be the only console it comes to and that multiple console ports are planned, but a simultaneous console release alongside the August 12 PC launch seems unlikely. Currently, the PS5 and other, unnamed console versions of Naraka: Bladepoint are simply coming “soon.”
Unfortunately, the gameplay footage is in a lower resolution than most PS5 players have grown accustomed to at 1080p. However, the textures and particle effects on display don’t appear to show any telling signs of a downgrade from what’s been shown ahead of Naraka: Bladepoint‘s PC launch. The gameplay still looks like a novel blend of narrative and multiplayer, so it seems that the defining announcement that NetEase has yet to make is whether or not crossplay will be supported between PC and console versions. In an era when AA and indie games opt for announcements on PlayStation or Xbox consoles first before revealing multiplatform and PC ports, Naraka: Bladepoint is flipping the script and leaving interested console players wondering if their platforms will be supported.
Naraka: Bladepoint will be available for PC on August 12, 2021, and its PS5 and console launches are TBA.
