RHOBH: Sutton Comments on Erika’s Lack Of “Remorse”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Sutton Stracke went on Watch What Happens Live! and shared her perspective on Erika Jayne’s recent decisions.

Following Wednesday night’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills episode, Sutton Stracke went on Watch What Happens Live! and shared her perspective on Erika Jayne’s recent decisions. So far this season, Sutton has been no stranger to drama, especially surrounding her new costar Crystal Kung Minkoff. But as more news comes out about Erika Jayne’s legal troubles with her ex Tom Girardi, Stracke’s focus may be redirecting very soon.

This week’s episode redirected its focus toward Jayne’s relationship with her husband, his scandals, and a serious accident he had back in 2017. In addition to his and her lavish lifestyles that he allegedly funded through theft and bribery, Tom Girardi had also had a serious life-threatening injury that Jayne had kept somewhat secret for years. At an emotional dinner during this week’s episode, Erika Jayne revealed to Kyle Richards that she had hidden how serious the accident had really been. Girardi had been badly hurt, and was unconscious for 12 hours. With Erika discussing this revelation instead of his crimes, it is no wonder Stracke, known for her southern etiquette, found Jayne’s relationship with victimhood and remorse questionable and confusing.

Last night on Watch What Happens Live!, Andy Cohen posed a fan question to Sutton about Erika’s seeming lack of “showing any sort of remorse at this point,” and if Sutton had felt the same. After taking a moment to think, Stracke put herself in Jayne’s shoes, answering, “It’s so hard because knowing now what I didn’t know then, I would have, maybe, played it a different way.” Stracke showed empathy for Jayne’s troubles, but this answer seemed somewhat critical of her etiquette in this situation.

In the same interview, Stracke also responded to claims made by a former RHOBH cast member about Erika’s mascara tears, stating, “Well, I think that there is waterproof mascara out there.” It seems as If Stracke is making a very deliberate decision to sound as impartial and respectful to Jayne’s situation as possible. Nevertheless, others on the internet have been critical of the housewife’s ongoing sob stories in recent episodes.

It seems as if Stracke is utilizing her well-practiced souther respectability and charm to reduce her drama-load in response to this season. Toeing the line between being a good friend and being a critical witness to Jayne’s drama may mean Stracke will continue to focus on choosing her words wisely when discussing her castmate’s legal drama. Although it may not have been known at the time of filming, it is now common knowledge to all the cast members that lawyers have been watching The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, waiting for Erika, or any of her possibly conspiratory cast members to slip.
