Less than two weeks into their fight, WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia and mandatory challenger Javier Fortuna are preparing to officially equip them at the end of the DAZ broadcast on Friday, July 9th.
The venue and sub card will be announced soon.
Garcia (21-0, 16K) claimed the belt in a wonderful comeback design made by Looch Campbell in January, creating a strange case for Fortuna (3 36-2-1, 2K) who shot him and Jesus Queller. In the 2012 qualifier, there was a simultaneous compelling challenge for world champion Devin Haney. The WBC was chosen to pit the couple against each other as they prepared for their May 29 volunteer defense against Haney Georges Linares.
As we said earlier, this is a great match between two heavy-handed lightweights featured on any show. Fortune had its ups and downs, but would serve as a legitimate shepherd in a handful of Garcia hats for anyone who defeated and defeated him.
Fortune will be interested and ready, but I will, too, Garcia said. Light episode, no one can beat me during the period. I’ll show the world who I am.
Ryan Garcia’s struggle must be taken very seriously and properly trained because he is the best fighter he has ever faced in his career. I hope there is no excuse for losing the fight night. I would expect it to be a fight when the fight is over, but Ryan Garcia has a lot to offer me. His last fight showed how easy it was to hit. And his strength means nothing to me. But I’ll put him to sleep
