It was another rare high school soccer Saturday in January and with it two Michigan state finalists.
In the statewide League Four semifinals, Cadillac defeated Leader Edwardsburg on Route 28-26 to secure a place in its first state championship match. The Vikings will now face Detroit Country Day in the D4 Final in Ford Field on Jan.22 at 7:30 pm.

Traverse City St. Francis also won on Saturday by beating City Cup on Road 13-12. This brings the wrestlers back to Ford Field for the first time since 2009, as they now face New Lothrop for the D7 title on January 23 at 10 am.
We had four other teams in the area who came to the field for the semi-finals on Saturday. Traverse City Central had been ranked No.1 on the Muskegon Mona Shores Ranking for a while, but the sailors returned, defeating the Trojans 43-30 in the second-tier final.
Grayling was also on the road against a higher-ranked team when Montag finished the Vikings’ campaign 49-14.
Johannesburg-Lewiston appeared to be a favorite against Opley in the Eighth Division semi-finals, but it was Berkats who beat the Cardinal at Thrillby Field in Traverse City 49-0.
Suttons Bay Norsemen faced Adrian Linnae Christian in the 8-man state final in First Division in Brighton. Unfortunately for the Nordic countries, the Cougars proved a lot in winning the tournament 47-0. It was Suttons Bay’s second consecutive appearance in the 8-man Final.
