Wimbledon working with Beeple to auction perks-laden NFT of Andy Murray’s historic win

What do you get when mixing Beeple (the artist who sold an NFT for $69 million), Wimbledon and a knight who broke a 77-year British drought? One of the most innovative nonfungible token (NFT) sales to date, and which could re-order the market for these digital highlights.

Wimbledon, through a new platform created by Beeple, is auctioning next week — during the first week of the tournament — an NFT of the moment Sir Andy Murray won Wimbledon in 2013, the first British male to do so in 77 years, a quest that dominated the UK annually during the fortnight. But beyond the NFT, which is an exclusive digital moment, the winner gets a practice session with Murray on a court at Wimbledon, a VIP behind-the-scenes tour, two tickets to the 2022 men’s Wimbledon finals and signed souvenirs.

Murray himself is set to play the tournament for the first time in four years.
